1. Privacy Policy Coverage

The Firm is obligated by law to keep client information confidential. However, this privacy policy is intended to cover only information collected from User through the use of the Website, and unsolicited email, voice message, text message, social media message, fax or other similar unsolicited electronic communication submitted by User (“Unsolicited Communication”).

WARNING: No attorney-client relationship exists between Dominion General Counsel, P.C. 2. Information Collected From User

Firm collects non-personally identifiable data (“NPI Data”) from each User using the Website through common website user reporting software installed on Website server. NPI Data is general information that does not by itself identify a specific individual. This information is compiled and analyzed on both a personal and an aggregated basis. For example, this information may include the Web site’s Uniform Resource Locator (“URL”) of the website visited prior to visiting Website, the URL of the website visited after leaving the Website, the type of browser used by User, and the User’s Internet Protocol (“IP”) address. A URL is the global address of documents and other resources on the World Wide Web. An IP address is an identifier for a computer or device on a Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (“TCP/IP”) network, such as the World Wide Web. Networks like the web use the TCP/IP protocol to route information based on the IP address of the destination. In other words, an IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer whenever you are surfing the web, allowing web servers to locate and identify your computer. Computers require IP addresses in order for users to communicate on the Internet, browse and shop.

We do not collect any personally identifiable data (“PI Data”) from user of the Website. However, Users sometime submit Unsolicited Communications to Firm containing personal information. If User submits an Unsolicited Communication, Firm would receive PI Data about User such as User’s email address, fax number, or other communication information, User’s name and any other information User includes in the Unsolicited Communication.

3. Information Collection Methods

Information about User is collected in two primary ways:

  • Cookies – the Website uses “cookies” in the operation of the Website.
  • Contact Information – If User contacts Firm by Unsolicited Communication, Firm may keep a record of User’s correspondence or comments. If User report a problem with the Website, Firm may collect such information in a file specific to User. If User contacts us through our feedback area or by calling one of our representatives, Firm may ask for the User’s name and contact information in order to send a reply.

4. Use of Collected Information

The Firm’s primary goal in collecting NPI Data is to provide User’s with an effective online experience and to enhance the operation of the Website.

Depending on the purpose of the Unsolicited Communication, the Firm might use PI Data from Unsolicited Communications to help Firm assess whether to establish an attorney-client relationship with User; to improve the Website or the Firm’s service offering; when dealing with a Firm client, to assist Firm with its representation of the client; or some additional legal purpose.

5. How Information Shared

In addition to the confidentiality requirements imposed by law upon our firm regarding clients, the Firm guards data collected from Users.

Regarding non-identifiable NPI Data, Firm may share NPI Data with advisors, software consultants, or others who are assisting Firm improve or conduct its operations.

Regarding PI Data, Firm does not share, sell, trade, or rent User PI Data to third parties. Depending on the nature of the PI Data, Firm could use PI Data to:

  • Assist the User with a legal matter if the parties establish an attorney-client relationship.
  • Represent a Firm client when the information concerns a client matter.
  • Comply with a court order, subpoena, or law enforcement investigation.
  • Report activity to law enforcement officials reasonably believed by Firm to constituted illegal conduct.

6. Third Party Websites

User should carefully review privacy policies of any third-party websites accessible from Website. Third party websites accessible through the Website have their own privacy policies and data collection, use, and disclosure practices. Please consult each site’s privacy policy. Firm is not responsible for and this privacy policy does not cover the policies or practices of third-party websites.
